Cover Backstory

I’m sure most of you have taken a peek at this weeks’ cover of The Stranger. The cover was photographed by Noah Kalina, who’s face you might recognize–he created “Everyday”, a self portrait project taken over 6 years, which he made into a video, posted it online, and became an internet celebrity. His self-portrait video was even parodied on The Simpsons (with portraits of Homer). His portfolio of work is interesting to look through, I’ve enjoyed following his work over the last few years.

Anyway, this week’s cover of The Stranger is featuring author Tao Lin, and the photograph itself is a parody/homage to Dan Winters portrait of Jonathan Franzen for Time Magazine. So in case you saw the cover, now you know the backstory.
