Spectacular Times

In the 1970s/80s, Larry Law (anarchist and member of the fleeting political revolutionary group Situationist International) created a series of pocket books called Spectacular Times concerned with widespread influence of capitalism on the quality of human life.  While perhaps overtly cynical, many of the views in these easily accessible works are still valid today – some more deeply entrenched now than they were several decades ago.

The Situationist movement was concerned with, “spectacular features like mass media and advertising [and their] central role in an advanced capitalist society, which is to show a fake reality in order to mask the real capitalist degradation of human life.”

Something to think about, and some fun standalone images throughout.
