When we had the critique with Wendy Red Star, and I told her about the hoop paintings, she reminded me of the Native American hoop dancers who dance with many hoops at a time (currently I can only manage one). This is not what I’ve seen inBellingham so it was awesome to watch. Unfortunately I couldn’t have the sound on as I was in a public location. Brian Hammill uses the hoops as an aid to storytelling, creating different creatures and cages, even sacred geometry for one moment with shapes one can make with the hoops. Also that costume does not look easy to dance in.

It doesn’t start until a few minutes in so you should fast forward and of course the most interesting developments in the dance are towards the end.
There were a few more I looked at but that one was really cool.
